Originally, my plan was to create an entire post to cover topics related to marketing. After writing it, I realized it is much too long for one blog post, so I have decided to split it into two. The first will cover Branding. You will come up with the message you want your business to convey. Once that is done, you will create your company name, logo, and color scheme.
Branding, according to the Small Business Encyclopedia is the “marketing practice of creating a name, symbol or design that identifies and differentiates a product from other products .” But branding covers so much more than that. As a matter of fact, Heidi Cohen, President of Riverside Marketing Strategies has a list of 30 branding definitions from various sources.
The second half will cover creating your marketing materials. First, you’ll learn about the various ways to market your business online and offline. Then, you’ll have to decide what the best way to market your business is. From there, I will give you some pointers on creating those materials. (And there will be some FREE templates for you!) I will dive into some basic information on creating a website. If you want the detailed version, you’ll have to wait until our full course is complete in the Fall of 2015.
Keep your eyes peeled, because the Branding post is coming up next!
